Linda M Velarde is the malinche (firekeeper) of the grupo “Danza Azteca de Anáhuac.”

In 1998 she received the Martin de la Cruz award from the International Congress of Traditional and Indigenous Medicine at the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, New Mexico for their XII International Congress of Traditional and Indigenous Medicine.

Linda has been a catalyst in helping repurchase two sacred sites in Guatemala. She has worked with the Mayan Council of Elders to obtain these sites and their restoration
