Guillermo was born and raised in Tijuana, Baja California. He moved to San Diego in 1970, and it was there he began studying Danza Azteca. He has traveled across the United States researching and learning Native American customs and ceremonies. He has shared his knowledge of the Danza Azteca and is instrumental in the formation of several Grupos de Danza in the United States. The elders of the Danza in México, as well as the Comisión Nacional de Pueblos Indígenas, the Centro de la Cultura Pre-Americana, and the Teatro y Escuela de las Nuevas Artes, all recognize Guillermo as one of their spokespersons here in the United States. In addition, Guillermo is a master painter, muralist and drummer.
