| Danza Azteca de Anáhuac was formed in 1976 by Guillermo Chavez Rosette, who received the lineage from master dancer and Aztec elder Florencio Yescas. Our group is based in Taos and is made up of 10 dancers. Annually we have a national gathering to commeorate the living prophecies of the last Aztec king and spiritual leader Cuauhtemoc. Our traditional gatherings brings people from across the nation. Over 100 dancers come to celebrate this oral tradition and ceremony. We are presently working with the international celebration of Cuauhtemoc in the state of Guerrero, Mexico where his descendants reside. In addition, we are currently painting murals in Ichcateopan, Guerrero, Mexico - depicting the living legacy of Cuauhtemoc. Cuauhtemoc is considered the Ghandhi of the Americas. |
